City to discuss overpass agreement with railway

The Clovis city commission will discuss an agreement with BNSF Railway involving upcoming work for the Hull Street overpass in Thursday’s 5:15 p.m. meeting at the Clovis-Carver Public Library.

The agreement is a precursor to work on the overpass, which was closed last summer. It stipulates that BNSF will supply all labor and materials for railroad work for the project

Bids for the main overpass work could be available as early as Oct. 1, the date of next Thursday’s commission meeting. Work is slated to be complete in the third quarter of 2010, City Manager Joe Thomas has said.

Commissioners will also compare personal lists of priorities for next year’s Legislature, and come to an agreement on how to rank their concerns.
