Clovis' Baskett makes first cut

PHILADELPHIA — Clovis native Hank Baskett III made the first cut of the season for the Philadelphia Eagles, as the team reduced its roster to 75 players Tuesday.

The Eagles released safety Brandon Harrison, waived linebacker Charleston Hughes and placed linebacker Stewart Bradley and tight end Cornelius Ingram on injured reserve for the 2009 season.

There will be a second cut later this week, as all NFL teams must reduce rosters to 53 players by 6 p.m. (EDT) Saturday.

Baskett is entering his fourth season with the Eagles. The 2001 Clovis High graduate has caught 71 passes for 1,046 yards and six touchdowns with Philadelphia since he arrived as an undrafted free agent.

He is currently third on the team’s depth chart at wide receiver, behind Kevin Curtis and rookie Jeremy Maclin.
