County fair junior livestock sales down

Freedom New Mexico

The Roosevelt County Fair junior livestock sale Friday brought in less money than last year.

The grand total was $159,275 for all the livestock sold during the auction.

Joy Levacy, secretary of the junior livestock sale, said it compares to $180,145 last year.

Levacy cautioned this year’s total is still an estimate because everything is not quite complete.

“We’re figuring at this moment, it is about 12 percent down from last year,” Levacy said.

Top dollar went the a Grand Champion dairy heifer exhibited by Dora FFA representative Kolby Cone, which sold for $5,000.
