City recreation programs taking registration

The City of Portales is taking registration for its Recreation Center after-school program and for fall youth sports.

“Kidz N Motion” after-school program offers structured group activities including play, art and crafs, physical fitness, tutoring and field trips for 6- to 15-year-olds.

Flag football is available for kindergarten through second-grade students, and third- to sixth-graders can play tackle football. Tryouts are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Aug. 29 at the Memorial Building, and the season starts Sept. 19.

The cost is $65 per person for tackle football and $25 per person for flag football.

Soccer is available for 4- to 12-year-olds. Tryouts are set for 1 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Memorial Building, and the season starts Sept. 19.

The cost is $25 per person.

Girls in first through sixth grade can register for volleyball. Dates and cost have not been set.
