A Clovis man is in jail after attacking a teen he said threw something at his vehicle Thursday night, police said.
Police found Freddy Sanchez hiding in a dumpster a few blocks from where witnesses said he climbed into a vehicle and struck the teen, police Capt. Patrick Whitney said.
Sanchez is being held on a probation violation with no bond for an unrelated case, jail officials said.
Jail officials said they did not know Sanchez’ age.
Around 6:30 p.m. police were called to the 900 block of Merriwether when a witness reported a man striking a child.
Whitney said Sanchez told police a group of teens threw something at his vehicle and dented it.
When the vehicle parked and the teens got out, Sanchez allegedly stopped his vehicle, climbed into the other and hit a boy inside.
Whitney said the boy was treated for minor injuries.
Whitney said police intend to charge Sanchez with felony child abuse.
