Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
About 10 p.m. an officer responded to a business in the 2000 block of North Prince Street for an embezzlement.
A security officer said an employee was caught taking money from a register.
He said management noticed the register drawer had been coming up short. A review of surveillance footage showed a male employee slip money from the register into his pocket.
When confronted the employee admitted to taking more than $400 in about a month, and returned $50.
He said he was trying to help family and had plans to repay the money.

About 3 a.m. June 12 officers responded to the 900 block of Hondo for a report of fighting and shots fired.
Officers found several people at the scene and told them to sit while they checked identification.
A warrant was found for one of the males and he as arrested.
The male later told an officer he was talking to friends when two males he had never seen before approached and started “talking crap”. He said one of them was holding a sawed off shotgun.
When the men saw the officers lights, he said they ran off and no shots were fired.

Around 10 p.m. June 12 an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Kathie for a burglary.
A woman said a car was parked in front of a neighbor’s home and the lights were on inside but she said the owner was out of town.
Officers responded and found the door open and the house ransacked.
Detectives were called and the owner was contacted by phone.
The man could not determine by phone if anything had been taken and said he would return to town to do an inventory of the house.

About 5 p.m. June 13 an officer responded to an undisclosed residence for a domestic dispute in progress.
A woman said she and her husband were arguing over his way of disciplining their children and he got mad and threw a beer bottle at her.
She said the bottle missed her, so he picked up another and started hitting her with it.
She said they started struggling and he hit her in the head several times with the bottle.
The woman was treated by ambulance personnel.
The man was arrested when he returned home later.
