Big Valley sells Clovis dealership

There is a reason the Big Valley lot on Mabry is empty.

Bender Chevrolet Cadillac in Clovis took over Big Valley Buick Pontiac GMC’s inventory of General Motors products Monday after buying the dealership.

Bender dealership co-owner Bryce Bender said he’s moved Big Valley’s inventory to his Chevrolet Cadillac dealership on 2500 Mabry Dr.

“We’re going to call it Bender GM World because we’ll have all five GM franchises at one location,” said Bender, who co-owns the car dealership with his brother Darryle Bender.

Bender also sells Chrysler, Dodge, Honda and Nissan vehicles.

Big Valley owner Alva Carter Jr. said there are no plans for the empty Big Valley lot on 3300 Mabry Dr.

Carter said the buyout is part of a reorganization of the dealership after the death of his father, Alva Carter Sr., who co-owned the dealership. Alva Carter Sr. died in a car accident in November. Alva Carter Jr. said he wants to focus the Portales location. He said the dealership also sold its Roswell location about nine months ago.

“It was too much for us to handle by ourselves,” he said.

He said the Big Valley dealership in Clovis had been open about a year.
