Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 2 a.m. June 29 an officer in the area of 21st and Thornton Streets observed a vehicle running a red light.

The vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed to a parking lot on W. 21st Street and stopped. When the officer approached the vehicle it sped out of the parking lot.

The pursuit continued at high rates of speed through parking lots and along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard until the vehicle ran into a telephone pole in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Cesar Chavez Drive.

The man began to lay on the ground as commanded by the officer, but at the last minute tried to get up again.

The officer tasered the 26-year-old and handcuffed him.

Officers discovered the suspect was driving on a suspended driver’s license, expired license plates, had open alcohol containers and a gun in the vehicle.

He was arrested on multiple charges including aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer.

Around 10 a.m. June 30 an officer responded to a theft report at a business in the 700 block of 21st Street.

A clerk said a man gave her a credit card and asked her to start the gas pump.

She said he put more than $100 of fuel in his vehicle and left.

The officer discovered the credit card belonged to a Portales resident, who could not be reached.

About 10 a.m. June 30 an officer responded to a crash in the area of 6th and Main Street.

A woman said she tried to enter an angled paring spot in the 500 block of Main Street and didn’t realize the vehicle to the right of her had its door open.

There was slight damage to both vehicles.

The woman was issued a citation for executing an improper turn while entering a parking spot.

About 2 a.m. June 30 an officer responded to the 2000 block of Grand Avenue for a situation check.

A caller reported a man was knocking on doors with a gun in his hand.

The officer located the man, who was intoxicated.

The man turned over an unloaded gun he had in his pocket.

Officers found an outstanding municipal court arrest warrant in the system and arrested the man.

Around 5 p.m. June 30 an officer responded to a report of theft at a business in the 1000 block of Prince Street.

A manager said a man was caught loading a cart full of alcoholic beverages into his vehicle that he didn’t pay for.

The 16 bottles of alcohol were valued around $475.

The man was arrested.
