TB screenings continue in Clovis

Freedom New Mexico

CLOVIS — The state Health Department says that about half the Clovis residents who might have been exposed to tuberculosis by an infected health care worker have been screened, and all the tests have been negative.

Officials hope all the screenings will be done by the end of next week.

The department said April 16 that about 250 Clovis and Albuquerque residents might have been exposed by the health care worker.

TB can be spread from person to person through the air when someone with the disease coughs, sneezes, speaks or sings. The spread of the disease depends on close contact in confined spaces, the length of contact and the frequency of contact.
