Modeling cotton outfits and showing horses will be taking place Saturday at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds.
The 2007 RCF Youth Horse Show will begin at 10 a.m. at the Special Events Arena. Thirty classes are scheduled to take place during the day. Entries for the horse show are due by noon today, and participants may enter more than one class, show superintendent Sandra Parsons said.
Admission is fee.
Last year, the show had 45 participants.
“We look forward to a big show and lots of fun,” Parsons said.
Across the fairgrounds in the Jake Lopez Building will be the Cotton Extravaganza Contest. The contest will take place at 9 a.m. for the pre-judging. A fashion show will be held at 6 p.m.
There are 31 contestants in the contest ranging in age from 3 months old to adult. Third- and fourth-generation families will be participating in the contest, according to contest official Diane Lieb.
Garments for the contest are made of at least 65 percent cotton and are judged on several areas such as fit and style.
The contest has been held in Roosevelt County for the last 35 years, Lieb said.
“It’s just a way of promoting the cotton industry,” Lieb said of the contest.
Awards will be presented Saturday.
