Cases against officers ongoing

Criminal cases against a former Department of Public Safety officer and a Clovis Police Department detective are still ongoing, according to court records.

A jury trial for former DPS officer Dolores Ledezma-Pinon was postponed from its December calendar setting and has been rescheduled for April 12.

Ledezma-Pinon resigned from her position in April 2006 after being charged with five counts each of forgery, tampering with public records and illegal disposal of citations.

Ledezma-Pinon, 52, of Clovis has pleaded not guilty to charges she turned in fabricated citations to her supervisors.

According to court records, the people named in the citations were never aware they had been issued, and one man was incarcerated at the time of his alleged offense.

A district attorney out of Carlsbad is prosecuting the case against Keith Farkas, 38, a CPD detective charged with embezzlement for allegedly using a department computer for personal use. A judge from outside the Curry County area will also be brought in to preside over the case, court records show.

Farkas’ attorney, Randall Harris, has said his client borrowed the computer to print invitations and then returned it.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 28 in the case against Farkas.
