Burchett, Tinnie

Tinnie L. Burchett, 90, of Farwell died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Farwell Convalescent Center.

Born May 12, 1915, in Field to James and Mint Roles Gibbs, she married John F. Burchett. She farmed with her husband at Grier for many years. She moved to Clovis in 1962. She was a member of Ranchvale Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Weytha Hawkins; four sisters, Lura Lee Wade, Mary Pounds, Margaret Ritter and Bea Beasley; and three brothers, Clayburn, E. B. “Doc” and Joe “Dick” Gibbs.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean Leatherwood of Clovis; a sister, Maurine Hale (and husband, Dave) of Farmington; a brother, Alfred Gibbs (Anna Dee) of Dimmitt, Texas; eight grandchildren, Terry Leatherwood (LaNell), Diane Thompson (Mike), Dusty Leatherwood (Carroll), Limey Riley (Diana), Mike Leatherwood (Kathy), Danny Riley (Jan), Kandi Davidson (Rick) and Brian Hawkins (Angie); 20 great-grandchildren; 13 great great-grandchildren, and three great-great-great-grandchildren.

Dusty Leatherwood will officiate services.

Burial will be at Melrose Cemetery, Melrose. The family will be at 924 County Road 15.

Chris Lewis, Les, Ryan and Shane Leatherwood, John, Jeremie and Josh Riley, and Miles and Cimm Thompson will serve as pallbearers.

All grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family has suggested memorials to Baptist Children’s Home in Portales.
