Clovis Head Start recruiting students

The Clovis Head Start preschool and Early Head Start is recruiting students, said Head Start supervisor Margie Tapia. The public is invited to tour the facilities on 901 Martin Luther King Blvd. and receive Head Start information, she said. The official start of the preschool year was August, Tapia said, but Head Start recruitment is year-round. She said the Head Start preschool program has room for 120 children; the early Head Start program has room for 32 children. Information or application: call 762-5585.

CCC enrollment down from last fall

The Clovis Community College enrollment decreased 7.9 percent, said David Caffey, CCC vice president for institutional effectiveness. These figures are incomplete, CCC officials said, because enrollment figures are completed at the end of each fall semester.

According to census-date figures, full-time equivalency rate at the college is currently 1,751 compared to last fall’s 1,901, Caffey said. Full-time equivalency is determined by combining part-time and full-time credit-hours of college students and dividing that number by a full course load of 15, Caffey said.
