W.F. Miller Jr.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday Wheeler Mortuary Chapel of Portales.

Mr. W.F. “Bill” Miller Jr., 87, of Portales, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.

He was born on Nov. 1, 1917, in Taiban, to Beulah and William Forrest Miller.

His family owned several businesses in Taiban, which were destroyed in a fire in 1923. The family moved to Portales in 1927 and opened a grocery store. He attended schools in Portales, Grady, Hollene and Bellview, where he graduated in 1936. He married Mae Heflin on Oct. 14, 1939. He married Bettie Gerber Baldridge on Nov. 7, 1969. He was in the trucking business, starting in 1937 and retiring in 1980.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Karen Elrod and Molly Katherine Stockard; two great-great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Edith Larson, Alice Panick, Bobbye Lea, Ora Frazier and Ruby Jones.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bud Miller (and wife, Barbara) of Portales; a step-son, Richard Baldridge of Grady; a daughter, Margaret Brake (Kenneth) of Hastings, Okla.; two step-daughters, Dianne Davis (George) of Clovis and Debra Bilberry (Monty) of Los Alamos; six grandchildren, Howard Miller of Portales, Beverly Mast of Las Cruces, Sue Parks of Amarillo, Donna Cook of Sebago, Maine, Kelvin Summers of Indianapolis and Mark Summers of Plainview, Texas; six step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Pete Lea of San Angelo, Texas.

David Bennett will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers are grandchildren, Howard Miller, Kelvin and Mark Summers, Jason and Ethan Davis, Donnie Baldridge, and John and Sean Bilberry.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Margaret Wilson

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Muffley Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis.

Margaret Ann Wilson, 81, of Clovis, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at her home.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1924, in Clovis, to Joe and Cora Fay Haltom Scroggins.

She married Leo Wilson on Dec. 4, 1941, in Smackover, Ark. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Family members said she loved gardening, cooking and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Butch Wilson of Clovis and Leslie Wilson of Ulysses, Neb.; a stepson, T.J. Taylor of Anton Chico; a sister, Louise Moore of Smackover, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Furgus Tunnell will officiate the services.

Cremation has taken place.

Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
