Justiniano Horacio "Justin" Chavez, 72, of Clovis, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at his home.

He was born on July 28, 1932, in Santa Rosa, to Justiniano and Lola Lucero Chavez.

He worked on cars doing auto body work and was a deputy sheriff. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Family members said he loved walking, reading and western movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and a brother.

Survivors include a son, Justin Chavez Jr. of Belen; a daughter, Patsy Cannons of Clovis; three step-sons, Manuel Maes (and wife, Sarah) of Savannah, Ga., and Lewis Maes (Cathy) and Raymond Garcia (Andie), all of Clovis; two brothers, Freddy Chavez (Anna) and Esmael Chavez (Virginia), all of Clovis; a sister, Carnelia Cordova of Clovis; and a grandson, Johnny Ray Saiz of Albuquerque.

A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton in Clovis.

Deacon Daniel Chavez will officiate the services.

Creamtion has taken place.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Plains Regional Home Healthcare and Hospice, 2217 Dillon St., Clovis, NM 88101.
