No charges filed in homicide case

Authorities said Tuesday that they are waiting on forensics results and have no set date on any charges being filed in connection with the shooting death earlier this month of Causey rancher Jimmy “Bo” Chunn.

A warrant obtained in district court indicated that Donald Taylor, 24, of Rogers, was identified as a person of interest in Chunn’s death. Taylor has been in the Roosevelt County Detention Center on an unspecified probation violation since July 8, the same day Chunn’s body was discovered.

Officials have said that Taylor’s violation was not related to the Chunn case and neither Taylor or anybody else has been charged in connection to Chunn’s death.

Court documents said that search warrants executed on Taylor’s vehicle and residence have produced clothes which tested positive for the presence of blood.

According to court documents, letters seized through the New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole Department indicated that Taylor is an active member of the Aryan Brotherhood.

Portales Police Capt. Lonnie Berry declined comment on the warrant. He said that evidence was expected to return Wednesday from the Office of the Medical Investigator.

Attempts to contact Taylor’s family were unsuccessful.
