Zias post sweep of TexAnns

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team cruised to a 30-21, 30-27, 30-26 Lone Star Conference South Division victory over Tarleton State Thursday night.

The Zias (22-7, 6-3 South), who close the regular season on Saturday with a division match at Texas A&M-Kingsville, had already clinched one of the division’s three berths in next week’s LSC tournament last weekend despite not playing. They will be the South’s No. 3 seed in the event at Lawton, Okla., hosted by North Division champion Cameron.

ENMU made short work of the last-place TexAnns (16-17, 1-8), finishing off the match in just over an hour. Junior middle blocker Lindsay Schiely had 11 kills for the Zias while sophomore middle Grace George added 10 kills and five block assists.

Senior Kelley McGinty posted a team-high 11 digs. Junior Amber McCarthy had 23 assists and collected three of the Zias’ nine aces.

For TSU, Missy Davis had a match-high 15 kills and Sheniqua Brosder added 10 kills and 10 digs.
