Garcia returning from injury

Clovis freshman Joey Garcia is expected to see his first college football action Saturday when the Red Raiders host Texas Christian University, Texas Tech’s assistant athletic director for media relations Chris Cook said on Tuesday.

Cook said Garcia was injured and missed a full week of practice prior to Tech’s season-opener against Southern Methodist University. He practiced some last week and should see time on Tech’s special teams against TCU, Cook said.

Cook said Garcia is third on Tech’s depth chart at free safety. He declined to reveal the nature of Garcia’s injury, citing team policy.
