Police Blotter: June 27, 2004

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Police responded to the 800 block of Hull Street on June 18 in reference to a woman who said her sister was harassing her, driving by her home, putting the car in neutral and revving her engine in a taunting manner.

Police found out the sister had violated a domestic violence order (DVO).

Police advised the woman to get a copy of the DVO and contact a judge’s office for further action.

Police responded to 9th and Prince streets on June 19 after a woman secretly dialed 911 because a man who she agreed to give a ride to had a bag of cocaine in the car and asked her if she wanted to do a “line.”

The woman was speaking to the man, and at the same time leading police to where she was located.

When police came to the vehicle, the woman said nothing was wrong, but when the man wasn’t looking she winked and nodded toward him as if something was wrong.

Police later searched the man and found the cocaine. The man was arrested and transported to the county jail.

Police responded Monday to the 3700 block of Prince Street in reference to a man who had attempted to steal items from a store.

When police arrived the man was already in the custody of store employees, who had chased him to the end of the store’s parking lot on foot.

The suspect told police he attempted to steal items from the store and had successfully stolen a tool box from the store the previous day.

Police were advised the man had a warrant for his arrest and took him into custody.

Police responded on Monday to the 800 block of West 9th Street in reference to a hole on the northside of a rental home.

Police believe the hole was caused by a white Buick, newer model, as several pieces of the car were located at the scene, and there were vehicle tire tracks in the gravel driveway.

Nobody who lived nearby had seen anything.
