Christian Frederick Davis, 56
The remains of Christian Frederick “Sonny” Davis, well known area cowboy and steer roper were re-interred in the Kenna Cemetery Saturday, June 12, 2004 with family and close friends present.
He died Apr. 14, 1991, at the age of 56, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born on Jan. 2, 1935, in Hobbs, to Ada and Red Davis.
He grew up on the SEA Ranch and in Fort Sumner. In 1954 he was married to Dot Denton. He made his home in the Kenna area until 1979 when he moved to Weatherford, Texas. From 1988 until his death he had lived in Kent, Texas near Pecos. He was a three-time World Champion Steer Roper, and was posthumously inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame in 1993.
Survivors include his second wife, Janie Davis of Dublin, Texas; two daughters, Trudi Davis of Kenna and Debi Allison of Glencoe; and a granddaughter, Dana Allison of Arvada, Colo.
Services have been held. The Rev. Bob Bell and Charles Good officiated the services.
Music was provided by Maurine and Jake Howard.
Arrangements were by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
Joe Hamilton, 75
Mr. Joe Hamilton, 75, of Clovis, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at Farwell Convalescent Center.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1928, in Altus, Oklahoma to Houston and Vera Hamilton.
He moved to Brownfield, Texas when he was less than a year old. He graduated from Brownfield High School in 1946. He married Billie Black May 29, 1949. He served in the U. S. Army from 1952 to 1954, then was a seismologist with Humble Oil for 13 years. He moved to Clovis in 1966 where he worked for Furrs Grocery store and farmed. Upon retiring in 1980 he loved spending the summers in the mountains of northern New Mexico and the winters in the Rio Grande valley in South Texas. He was a member of 16th & Pile Church of Christ in Clovis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Clayton Walker and Byron Black.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Hamilton of Clovis; three sisters, Retha Walker of Rowlett, Texas, Lillian Bingham (and husband, Curtis) of Mesquite, Texas and Kay Green of Clovis; a sister-in-law, Barbara Black of Clovis; six nephews and three nieces.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at 16th & Pile Church of Christ in Clovis. Jim Gammon and A.C. Oliver will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Bob Brown, Neil McBride, Kenneth Jones, Jerry Baker, Tom Daugherty and Bob Stewart.
Honorary pallbearers are Jack Anderson and Dr. Obadias Ferrari.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Patsy Stark, 67, of Great Falls, Mont., died Thursday, June 24, 2004.
