IRVINE, Calif. — The Community Newspapers Division of Freedom Communications, Inc. has named a former Clovis News Journal publisher its vice president in the Pacific Region.

Julie Moreno will be responsible for overseeing Freedom’s community newspaper properties located in California and Arizona. She will also remain publisher of The Sun in Yuma, Ariz., where she’s been since leaving Clovis in 2000.

Moreno was named publisher of the Clovis News Journal in 1995 and later became senior publisher for Freedom Newspapers of New Mexico.

“It’s heartening to see a talented, hard-working person such as Julie rise through the organization to a group management role,” said Jonathan Segal, president of Freedom’s Community Newspapers Division. “I have confidence she will be a great group leader.”
