Chester Harris, 67, of Clovis, died on Sunday, April 25, 2004, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

He was born on Feb. 15, 1937, in Chicago, to Clarence Sr. and Anna Harris.

He married Winnie Thomas on Jan. 5, 1972, in Clovis. He came to Cannon Air Force Base in 1969 and retired after 21 years of service. He went to work for the City of Clovis at the Public Works Complex and retired after 20 years. He worked weekends as a security guard for Plains Regional Medical Center and retired after 15 years. Family members said he loved playing with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching football games on TV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Clarence Harris Jr.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Barbara Dawson (and husband, John), Golder Mallory and Ida Burgess, all of Clovis; a son, Chris Harris (LeAnna) of Clovis; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and other relatives.

W. Charles Green will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.

Military honors are by Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons.

Arraignments are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
