Bernard Wilmot Dougharty, 78, of Alamogordo died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, in Las Cruces.

He was born on Feb. 2, 1925, in Haskell, Texas.

He was a graduate of Stamford, Texas, High School, Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a Southern Baptist minister for 53 years, serving churches in Rosedale, Springer, Anthony and Santa Fe. He was a combat veteran of World War II and received two Purple Hearts, an Oak Leaf Cluster and a Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Alamogordo; four children, Philip Dougharty of Buffalo, N.Y., Bonnie Dougharty of Enid, Okla., Dan Dougharty of Espanola and Houston Dougharty of Tacoma, Wash.; and members of their families, Kristina Dougharty, Adrian Goodwin, Chris Dougharty, Kayla McDuffie, Kimberly Dougharty, Allie Dougharty, and Fen Dougharty; and a nephew, Steve Dougharty of Albuquerque.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton-O’Dell Funeral Home in Alamogordo.

The Rev. Charles Hanks, the Rev. Bill Ware and the Rev. Francis Wilson will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo.

Pallbearers will be Philip, Dan, Houston and Steve Dougharty, David Wyman and Eric Rogers.
