They are classically trained musicians who studied at the Julliard School in New York City. The four siblings play Christian country music.
“Christian music is the odd ball out in music because it refers to the message of the music, not the style of the music,” said Annie Wolaver, 20, lead singer and violin player in the “Annie Moses Band.”
“The Christian message is the unifying theme of our music, but we play a lot of variety of types of music.”
Many Christian musicians play without formal training. Julliard’s rigorous discipline formed the foundation for Annie’s band.
“I think classical training is a musical base you can start from,” said brother Alex, who is 18. “If you are trained classically, you have the technical training to perform any style.”
The band is set to perform today at Clovis High School and Highland Elementary School; a public concert is scheduled at 7 tonight at Clovis’ First Christian Church.
Annie Wolaver said the band strives to bring a Christian message to its audiences — and to introduce fans to classical instruments.
“We find that 99 percent of all children in our schools have never heard a violin,” she said. “We want to show them what they’re missing.”
