Floyd Moore, 94

Mr. Floyd L. Moore, 94, of Hobbs, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, in Hobbs.

He was born on Sept. 21, 1909, in Sentinel, Okla.

He married Ethel Amber Hynes on Nov. 29, 1927, in New Cordell, Okla. He moved to Hobbs in the 1950s. He owned and operated Floyd’s Auto Repair from 1958 until 1984. He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Moore; four sisters, Florence Cox, Pauline Vernon, Mae Read and La Verne Moore; a son, Grafton L. Moore; and a granddaughter, Lela Moore.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Elzie Edward Moore of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Delmar R. Moore of Hobbs; two daughters, Cleadith L. Roberts and Mary Belle Davidson, both of Hobbs; two brothers, B.J. Moore of Washington and Donald Moore of Truth or Consequences; a sister, Ollie Vernon of Portales; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Shawn Dake will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Prairie Haven Memorial Park in Hobbs.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Village.

Arrangements are by Griffin Funeral Home of Hobbs.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Hobbs.

W.E. Wooley, 92

W.E. “Dub” Wooley, 92, of Slaton, Texas, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at Lakeside Rehabilitation and Care Center in Lubbock.

He was born on Aug. 11, 1911, in Erath County, Texas, to Foster and Adella Pack Wooley.

He moved to Portales with his family at an early age. He graduated from Portales High School in 1930 where he was a star basketball player. During his junior and senior basketball years at Portales High School, the team went to the state basketball finals in 1929 and 1930. He served in the U.S. Army from 1934 until 1937. He married Ella Ann Rinne on Jan. 7, 1945, in Clovis. In 1973 he moved to Slaton from Portales. In Portales he was a farmer and owned an independent trucking firm.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Lee (and husband, Max) of Slaton; a brother, Orville Wooley of Farmington; two grandchildren, Gayla Carlton of Slaton and Larry Lee of Lake Ransom Canyon, Texas; and four great-grandchildren.

Roy Taylor officiated the services.

Burial was at Englewood Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Services have been held.
