Curry County 4-H
President Brette Hadley called the Curry County 4-H Council Meeting to order on Nov. 4. The pledges were led. Skyla Cockerham read the minutes of the last meeting and Curtis Williams then gave the treasurer’s report.
Under unfinished business, the group discussed what the different clubs’ opinions were about the milkshake stand at the fair. It was announced that the Awards Banquet will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Grady School Gym. The Grady 4-H Club is responsible for decorating. President Hadley reminded everyone to bring an item for the silent auction and a finger food for the potluck. The group then voted for the new county officers; president, Brette Hadley; vice president, Jennifer Blackburn; secretary, Skyla Cockerham; treasurer, Kirsty Forrest; reporter, Austin Graham; chaplain, James Gant; and two historians, Heather Blackburn and Brynna Kos.
Under new business, the club decided to donate $500 to the Jesse Holloway Scholarship Fund. The meeting was adjourned.
National Education Association - Clovis
The National Education Association - Clovis met Nov. 15 at Tucumcari Elementary School. Rhonda Griego Roberts, a member of NEA Leadership Team, attended the NEA SE NM Region Coordinating Council.
The meeting was chaired by Telene Carter from Lovington. Charles Bowyer presented the NEA legislative agenda for the upcoming session. Andres Becerra, SE Region Uniserv Director, gave a report on memberships. He also gave an update on member rights/grievances. Helen Davis brought greetings from state president Eduardo Holguin. Under new business, members were reminded that Hall of Fame nominations are due by Dec. 12. Dianna Manly gave the treasurer’s report. The meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be in March 2004 in Roswell.
