Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

A dog owner called police about 9:30 a.m. Monday to report his daughter’s pet husky had disappeared about 7:45 a.m. from the 1700 block of Laura Lane.

Police inspected the dog’s leash, which appeared to be intact and in working condition, and are treating the case as a dog theft.

A 92-year-old Clovis woman called police about 10 a.m. Tuesday to report a hearing aid was missing and possibly stolen from her home.

Police took her information and are investigating it as a case of larceny under $250.

About 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, police received a call to the 100 block of El Camino reporting that a man she knew had come to her home, tried to block her from leaving, and grabbed her while she was holding a child. The man then grabbed a knife, bolted out the door, and tried to open the hood of her car with the knife but failed.

Police were unable to locate the man, who had left riding a bicycle but dropped the bike and went through back yards before leaving the area.

Police noticed a truck parked outside a gas station about 1 a.m. Wednesday and recognized it had been stolen. The white Ford Ranger pickup had a wildlife scene on the tailgate and had been stolen on Oct. 31 from a dealership.

After some time in the store, a 20-year-old woman came out and was apprehended by police for vehicle theft and also admitted she was high on crank. She said she got the vehicle from a boyfriend on Oct. 31 and had not returned it. A search of the vehicle by a police dog found large amounts of drug paraphernalia.

A Clovis man called police about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to report a CD player worth about $150 had been stolen out of his truck.

Police found no evidence of forced entry and other items were not taken from the vehicle.

Police received a call from a Clovis school about 10 a.m. Wednesday reporting that a 16-year-old male student may have drugs in his possession.

The student denied drug possession. A search of his pants found a gold smoking pipe with residue in it. Police tested the pipe residue and later charged him with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

A 33-year-old Clovis man tried to flee police after they were called to a domestic violence situation at the 1300 block of Hondo about 10 a.m. Wednesday.

After leading police on a foot chase through back yards and over fences, police apprehended him and later found two syringes of heroin in his clothing.
