Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
Responding about 10 a.m. Oct. 30 to a drive-through restaurant, Clovis police found someone had shot the outside menu board with an air gun, leaving six holes in the plexiglass doors of the order board.
Restaurant staff estimated damage at $200.
Police took a man into protective mental custody about 2 p.m. Oct. 30 after receiving a call that the man was seeing people who weren’t there. While transporting the man to jail, he told police that all the people he saw on the street were trying to kill him.
The man also had marijuana in his possession and was charged with that offense.
Two 15-year-old boys claiming rival gang identifications were involved in a fight about 10 a.m. Friday when one called out his gang name in a school hallway and the other began hitting him.
Police issued a juvenile citation for battery to the student who did the hitting.
About 4:45 p.m. Friday, police responded to a reported battery on school personnel outside a Clovis junior high.
A teacher organizing a softball game said that after two boys refused to follow directions and were barred from playing, one of the boys clenched his fists and attempted to intimidate the teacher by saying he knew where she lived and would egg her house.
The student was suspended for three days and the case turned over to the police officer assigned to school resource duty for further investigation.
A 1993 Nissan received heavy damage and three passengers were treated by fire department personnel following a crash about 10 p.m. Friday on the northwest corner of 21st and Norris streets.
The driver of a 2002 pickup not hit in the crash said he had been turning north onto Norris when he swerved to avoid a crash with the Nissan. The Nissan also swerved off the road, went off the road, and hit a fence and concrete wall. About 30 feet of fencing was also damaged in the crash.
The pickup driver was cited for failure to yield when making a left turn.
About 7:45 a.m. Saturday morning, Curry County sheriff’s deputies investigated an 18-year-old woman found naked in a ditch outside Clovis. The woman was uncooperative with officers but was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center for a rape evaluation.
Sheriff Roger Hatcher reported the woman is refusing to identify her assailants or explain what happened.
