Hastings Entertainment, Inc., a multimedia entertainment retailer, is opening a store in Clovis, the company announced Wednesday.

The store will be at 2001 N. Prince, but no information on when it will open or how many people it will employ was immediately released.

Ernie Kos, executive director of the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce, said the new Hastings will share a site with the new Hobby Lobby, which is scheduled to open on Monday.

Kos said about 15 new businesses have located in Clovis this summer and several are opening their doors in the coming days.

“Besides Hobby Lobby’s scheduled opening, we have Guad-To-Go, a take-out subsidiary of Guadalajara Restaurant, scheduled to open in the 2900 block of Prince Street next week, and a multi-million dollar expansion of Plains Regional Medical Center scheduled to open later this month,” she said.

“It’s exciting. We’re definitely on a roll,” she said.

Hastings offers a wide array of entertainment and information products, with more than 30,000 book titles, more than 15,000 video tape and DVD titles for rent and sale, and thousands of CDs and cassettes. It guarantees discounts on book bestsellers, dozens of music titles and video rentals as low as 99 cents for five evenings, a company press release said.

According to the release, Hastings Entertainment, Inc. was founded in 1968 and operates 146 stores averaging approximately 22,000 square feet, primarily in small-to-medium-sized markets throughout the United States.

It also operates http://www.gohastings.com an e-commerce Internet Web site that makes new and used entertainment products, gifts and toys available. General information about Hastings is available at the site.
