Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 1 p.m. Wednesday, a 74-year-old Clovis man came to the police department to report that someone had stolen three of his checks and cashed one of them worth $210. Evidence collected from the check pointed to a 40-year-old Clovis woman.

An argument over a child left in a car seat led a 20-year-old Clovis husband to grab his 19-year-old wife by the hair Wednesday afternoon.

After arriving at the 800 block of West Manana and speaking to both the husband and wife, police determined the wife showed no physical injuries and both parties agreed she did not need medical attention. However, police arrested the husband on charges of battery on a household member based on his admission that he had grabbed her hair during the dispute.

A 35-year-old Clovis man called police about noon on Thursday to report that while he was attending the county fair, unknown persons stole his green Sears weed eater from his home on the 800 block of Prince Street.

Police reported that during the day on Thursday, someone entered a residence on the 800 block of Rencher Street and took a bottle containing about $300 worth of quarters. There were no signs of forced entry, but police determined the door to the home could not be fully secured.
