Police who responded to a fight early Friday morning at the 600 block of South Main Street ended up arresting a 39-year-old woman for driving under the influence.

A man at the fight scene told police the woman hit him in the face and left in a green pickup truck.

A dispatcher advised police officers the woman was at a local convenient store and requesting an officer.

Police arrived and noticed the woman had extremely slurred speech and was sitting in the pickup with the engine running.

Police arrested the woman for DUI with a .15 blood-alcohol content.

A drunk man who was in the Roosevelt County district courtroom on July 9 was charged with contempt of court.

The district judge noticed the 54-year-old man acting inebriated in his courtroom and called police.

The man was transported to the Roosevelt County Detention Center where a breath sample showed a .24 blood-alcohol content.

The results were faxed to the judge and he instructed police to arrest the man on contempt charges.
