Clovis city manager enhances leadership skills

Clovis City Manager Ray Mondragon recently completed a course of study with Leadership New Mexico, a non-profit organization whose aim, according to its Web site, is “to identify current and emerging leaders throughout New Mexico, enhance their leadership skills, and deepen their knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing the state.”

In six sessions that ran from September 2002 to June, Mondragon participated in study sessions on health and human services, economic development, education, the environment and natural resources, government, criminal justice and leadership.

What he gained from the experience, Mondragon said, is “more knowledge about the problems facing New Mexico and its citizens. For example, did you know that there are 436,000 New Mexico residents without healthcare.”

Mondragon is the fifth Clovis resident to attend Leadership New Mexico.

Sponsors of Leadership New Mexico include Public Service Co. of New Mexico, Wells Fargo bank, the Albuquerque Journal and Intel Corp.
