    Police say one person was injured Tuesday when a pickup truck rear-ended another vehicle on Chicago Avenue. Portales Police Deputy Chief Lonnie Berry said a 2007 Nissan driven by Barry Vaughn, 34, of Clarksville, Ark., was stopped on Chicago waiting for traffic to clear when he was hit by a southbound 2005 Chevy pickup driven by Ricardo Puentes, 23, of Portales.     Lexie Myers is the owner of Snelling Staffing Services in Clovis and Portales. She moved to Clovis from Fort Sumner in 1985. Snelling Staffing places people into a temporary role with an employer. Myers said times were tough back in the 80s for farmers so her family moved to Clovis. When her children got to school age and she took care of a few loose ends, Myers stepped back into the work force doing payroll. Myers is a salesperson for her company.     Last week, I met two outstanding fourth grade students. One, a Parkview Elementary student, Fabian Trevino, won a national essay contest; and the other student, Cam Kuykendall, a fourth grade student at Zia Elementary, has progressed to ninth grade math.
