    Staff report The city of Clovis/Curry County Office of Emergency Management has scheduled a “full-scale exercise” from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.   • Police: Decoy leads to arrest

    Staff report A 21-year-old Clovis man was arrested Sunday and charged with child solicitation by electronic communications device. A Curry County Sheriff’s Department news release says Jacob Montoya, 21, contacted an online “chat profile” that claims to represent a 13-year-old female from Clovis. “Montoya sent messages that were sexually explicit and a photo of his genitals,” the release said. “Montoya solicited a meeting for sexual activity and requested to meet the '13-year-old female’ at her residence.” The release sai...

  • Labor Day brings work stories

    In celebration of Labor Day, we asked area residents for the best — and worst — jobs they’ve had. A few responses: Danny Lujan of Clovis said his worst job was at a slaughterhouse. “I didn’t like working in the knives, and standing for eight hours for 23 years,” Lujan said. His only other job, he said, is one he has now with the city of Clovis’ Parks and Recreation Department. “Been here 10 years,” Lujan said.
