    CLOVIS — A fixture of Clovis High School football games — stolen nearly 60 years ago from a steam engine — may soon be back on the locomotive. Consideration of the return of the Clovis High football/band bell is included under Superintendent Jody Balch's report to the Clovis Municipal Schools board of directors.   • Roosevelt commission to talk infrastructure

    PORTALES — The Roosevelt County Commission will meet today with the county's 2020-24 Infrastructure and Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP) headlining a light agenda. The commission discussed the ICIP in a workshop that followed its Aug. 7 meeting. The ICIP is a planning document revised annually by municipalities to identify major projects over the next five years.   • Inmate found guilty on drug charges

    CLOVIS — A Curry County jail inmate caught with methamphetamine in his pocket was found guilty by a jury on Friday for possession of a controlled substance. He faces up to 2 1/2 years in prison, according to a news release from District Attorney Andrea Reeb. McDaniel, 48, was arrested on 10 active warrants on Oct. 11, 2017, the release said. The meth was found in his coat pocket after he’d been incarcerated. Reeb said officials do not know how McDaniel acquired the meth....

    CLOVIS — A court appearance scheduled Monday morning for a Clovis Municipal Schools board member accused of inappropriately touching a woman was continued to next month. Kyle Snider, 47, is now scheduled for a docket call Sept. 25 on two petty misdemeanor battery charges stemming from an incident March 24 at Guy Leeder softball complex.     MELROSE — A Portales man died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash south of Melrose, said a news release from Curry County Sheriff Wesley Waller. Larry Harris Jr., 43, was the sole occupant of a 2001 Honda and died on scene.
