Obituary: Robert K. Love Jr.

April 3, 1934 - March 6, 2024

A graveside service for Robert K. Love, Jr., 89, of Clovis, will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Portales Cemetery.

Robert Kenneth Love, Jr. was born on April 3, 1934, in Childress, Texas, to the home of Bonnie Faye (Whitley) and Robert Kenneth Love, Sr., "Dude", and died on March 6, 2024.

Robert grew up in Childress, Texas, and graduated from Childress High School. He married Lula Belle Watson on November 10, 1954, in Childress. Robert served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1955 They moved to Plainview, Texas in 1956, and then to Clovis in 1964.

Robert was self-employed as an Aircraft Mechanic and Inspector from 1964 until just recently. He worked mostly at the Clovis and Portales Airports and was about the only Aircraft Safety Inspector in the area. He was considered by many as one of the best aircraft mechanics and inspectors being very meticulous in his work. He earned many local, regional, and national Aviation Safety Awards, including the Charlie Taylor Award.

Robert was also an inventor and had some of his inventions patented and marketed. He loved to hunt for rocks and artifacts. Robert was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and his family. He would always pray for anyone he thought may need it.

Robert is survived by his wife, Lula Love of the home; his sons, Danny Love of Ft. Worth and Gary Love & wife Carmen of Wolfforth; his sisters, Dorothy Mikael of Wichita Falls and Loretta Couch & husband Lloyd of Tyler; his brothers, Tommy "Butch" Love & wife Francis of Georgetown, Don Love & wife Etta of Lubbock and Sammy Love of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Matthew Love, Miranda Love, Kenneth Love & wife Becca, Lilian Isabel Love, Daniel Love and James Love; four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Bonnie Faye Love, and a brother Chester Wayne Love.
