County elections are gearing up

Filing date for elections statewide is Tuesday. Candidates may file from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with their county clerks.

Positions open include:

• State senate - Districts 7 and 27

• State representative - Districts 63, 64, and 67

• Public Education Commission - District 8

• Ninth Judicial district attorney

• Curry County commissioner - Districts 2, 4, and 5

• Curry County clerk

• Curry County treasurer

• Curry County assessor

• Curry County sheriff

• Roosevelt County treasurer

• Roosevelt County clerk

• Roosevelt County commissioner Districts 1 and 2.

Curry County Clerk Annie Hogland said candidates for the following offices will file with the Secretary of State:

n United States senator

n United States representative

Primary elections are scheduled June 4, with early voting beginning May 7.

The general election is Nov. 5.
