Mall restaurant changes name

The Pita Pocket, in the North Plains Mall food court, has changed its location name to DAC’s SmAshcraft Burgers & More.

Owner David Ashcraft said the “DAC” stands for “David and Chelsie,” a reference to his partner and significant other, Chelsie Morris.

“We were going to have ‘smashburger’ in the name but that term is copyrighted, so we’re calling it ‘DAC’s SmAshcraft Burgers,’” Ashcraft said.

Ashcraft describes SmAshcraft burgers as ones where “the outer edges are very crunchy and crispy and the inside juicy and tender.”

Ashcraft said the location will be offering five different burgers, hot dogs, Frito pies and pizza.

“A lot of the burgers have Italian names. We’re not Italian, we just liked the names,” Ashcraft said.
