August 20, 1936 - January 2, 2024
Church service for Peggy Sudderth, age 87, of Farwell, Texas, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 6, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Farwell with Rick Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Terrace Memorial Cemetery in Farwell. Peggy died Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born August 20, 1936 in Quanah, Texas to Virgil and Ava (O'Hare) Woodson. She married J.B. Sudderth in Oklahoma Lane, Texas on May 19, 1954.
Peggy shone like a beacon to all those who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was overflowing with kindness and compassion and would love even the most difficult of people. Her life was filled with adventure, from following her newly-wed husband, J.B., out to California for his military service, to farming, ranching and building a successful and lasting business first with J.B. then with her son, Daren. She was the heart of the Sudderth family and even in her later years, as she fought Alzheimer's, she made every effort to comfort those around her. A deeply devout Christian woman, Peggy was involved with the church as their pianist for many years. She also sat on the board of the nursing home, always trying to brighten others days during difficult times. The world lost a beautiful and talented soul. We take comfort in knowing, she will always be there in spirit, especially when times get hard.
With her many years of wisdom, she would ask that you make the decision every day to praise Jesus, love always and be kind. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, J.B .; a son, JaDan Sudderth; her parents; her two sisters, Carolyn Janie Martin and JoyLee Chadwick; and a brother, Bill Woodson.
Peggy is survived by her son, Daren Sudderth and his wife, Angela of Farwell, Texas; her four grandchildren, Hanna Sudderth, who was also her caregiver, Jason Sudderth, Gaylen Sudderth and his wife, Michelle, and Colton Sudderth and his wife, Ashley; and her five great-grandchildren, Jaxon, C.J., Adlea, Cheyanne and Weston.
A special thank you to the ladies who helped with caring for Peggy: Dolores and Maricruz for jumping in at a moment's notice, Kitty, Yolanda and Christina for helping keep her safe after surgery; and the ladies at her home in Lubbock, Lacey, Lisa, Rhonda, Brittany, Aubrey, Trinity and Mercedes.
