Sidewalk replacement set to start

The city of Clovis is set to start a sidewalk replacement project Monday on Main Street.

The project, estimated at more than $300,00 is expected to take up to 60 days to complete.

A city news release states workers will remove existing sidewalks and trees, so that new sidewalks will be paved behind a curb.

According to the release the project will include Americans with Disabilities Act improvements, ensuring a more accessible environment at the corners of Grand Avenue and Second Street.

Nick Griego and Sons Inc. submitted the winning bid. The New Mexico Department of Transportation contributed $275,705 of the cost, while the city has covered the remaining $43,916.

The release stated the construction company will be coordinating with all local businesses that may be affected by the construction process on Main Street. The city will hold open communication and collaboration with the business community.
