Police pursuit results in four-year sentence

A 32-year-old Clovis man last week was sentenced to four years in prison in connection with a police pursuit in May.

Jonathan Sullivan will serve at least three years and eight months in custody before he is eligible for parole, according to a news release from the district attorney’s office.

According to court records:

On May 29, police suspected Sullivan of drug trafficking, which resulted in his leading Curry County Sheriff deputies on a vehicle pursuit. After exiting the vehicle, he ran and hid behind a house.

As a deputy exited a garage the suspect took an aggressive stance and “pointed a pistol at the deputy.” The deputy, Devin Glascock, pulled his firearm and fired three shots at the suspect, who was not hit.

Sullivan was soon captured. The weapon he pointed at the deputy was later located and determined to be an unloaded airsoft pistol.

Sullivan told police “he had hoped to be killed by the deputies and officers.”

District Judge Drew Tatum handed down the sentence.
