Patricia T. Hansen, 71, of Clovis passed away peacefully in Clovis on November 4, 2023.
Pat was a loving wife and mother and served as a dedicated bookkeeper and organizer for employers in Indiana, California and New Mexico.
On October 7, 1952 Pat Hansen was born Patricia Vargo in Gary, Ind., to John and Anna Vargo of Griffith, Ind., the youngest of three daughters.
Pat received a bachelor’s degree in geography from California State University, San Bernardino in 1996 and developed a lifelong love for hiking in the California high desert and later, in eastern New Mexico.
In the 1970s, Pat spent a number of years working as a bookkeeper and steel sales processor for what is now Niagara LaSalle Corporation in Hammond, Ind.
Later, after several years as a full-time mom, Pat worked for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. and volunteered for St. Andrew’s Abbey at Valyermo, Calif. She later worked for Shelter Partnership, a non-profit organization that organizes supplies to assist the homeless, in Los Angeles.
In Tucumcari, she worked for R. Kelly McFarland, CPA, as a bookkeeper for several years and then as an office manager for Xcel Energy during construction of the Quay County Generating Station in Tucumcari.
In retirement, Pat volunteered as a fossil preparator at Mesalands Community College in Tucumcari. and enjoyed embroidery, jigsaw puzzles and reading.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Steve Hansen of Clovis; her sisters Marie (Anthony) Gulotta of Griffith, Ind., and Margaret (David) Rietman of Schererville, Ind.; her daughter Jenelle Hansen of Topeka, Kan.; and her son John (Heather) Hansen of Phelan, Calif. She is also survived by two grandchildren Kitania Hansen and Nikolai Hansen, both of Phelan, Calif.
