El Paso - On November 6, 2023 at 5:25am, God called another angel to Heaven. Joe A. Maez, age 86, entered into eternal rest in El Paso, Texas after valiantly fighting for 2 years from esophageal cancer. He was a wonderful
husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and will be dearly missed. Joe is preceded in death by his parents; Trinidad and Lilia Maez, his children; Harold Maez and Debra Marie Maez, as well as his siblings; Jess Maez, Eddie Maez, Armando Maez, Jimmy Maez, and Billie Johnson. He leaves behind his beautiful wife of 66 years; Rose Marie Maez, his children; Glenda Stallings (Robert), Gerald Maez (Belinda), David Maez (Yvonne), Sonya Smith (Trey), Suzanne Wagner (Johnny), and Ivette Melendez (Jim), his grandchildren; Trey Stallings (Anne), Mariah Williams (Sean), Breanna Maez, Adrian Maez, Logan Maez, Michala Maez, Jerika Smith, Jessica Wagner, Serina Wagner, Cameron Melendrez, and Rebekah Peters (Julian), as well as his great-grandchildren; Cannon Stallings, Johanna Williams, Adyson Sealman, Aubree Sealman, Jiren Nickels, and Delaney Nickels. He is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory.
Joe worked and retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 42 years and 2 months of service. His career took him from Belen, New Mexico to Temple, Texas to Clovis, New Mexico, then to El Paso, Texas, leading him to make many friends along the way. Joe never knew a stranger. He was a devoted member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharist Minister and Lector. Joe was also involved in ACTS, Marriage Enrichment and Knights of Columbus.

A Visitation will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am on Saturday, November 11, 2023 with a Holy Rosary at 10:30am with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00am, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church; 1551 Belvidere St, El Paso, TX 79912.
