Obituary: Charles Allen Patman II

Aug. 16, 2004 - Nov. 2, 2023

Charles Allen Patman II, 19, unexpectedly passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023, as the result of an undetected health issue at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY.

Charles was born August 16, 2004, in Amarillo, TX to Jeremy and Amy Patman and raised in Borger, TX. Charlie quickly gained the nickname Cap and instantly captured the love of all his grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Cap was blessed with a sister, Elizabeth Patman, and they became great friends. Cap and his family moved to Houston, TX for 18 months, then spent 8 years in Edmond, OK where he formed many great friendships. By this time, Charlie had 8 cousins: Braegan Patman and Magnus Foster of Ozark, MO, Whaetly, Lylianna, Quinlyjoe and Inzlyelise Chaloupek of Fairmont, OK and Ben and Zoe Jeter of Abilene, TX.

Cap's family moved to Gillette, WY in 2019 where he got to experience real winters, snow skiing and becoming a young man. In the four years in Wyoming, Cap's childhood nickname outgrew him, and he became Charlie. He was very active in Boy Scouts where he earned the Arrow of Light, Senior Patrol Leader, and the Star Rank. He participated in clay shooting, dabbled in music, loved the band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and his favorite thing, the High School Science Club. Charlie was raised in the Methodist Church. He was a sweet, kind young man and extraordinarily loyal to all his friends and family.

Charlie was a 2023 graduate of Campbell County High School in Gillette, WY. He was a freshman at the University of Wyoming and majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Photography. He was an avid reader and a bright student with a wealth of knowledge. Charlie was enjoying college life.

Charlie is survived by his parents, Jeremy and Amy Patman, and his sister, Elizabeth "Ella" of Gillette, WY; his grandparents; William and Fran Patman of Borger, TX and J. Stuart Wilson of Winder, GA; his great grandmother, Marjorie Strebeck of Clovis, NM; aunts and uncles, Elizabeth (Shad) Chaloupek of Fairmont, OK, Natalie (Kale) Foster of Ozark, MO, and Alana (Doug) Jeter of Abilene, TX; his cousins; many great aunts and uncles, and a large extended family. During Charlie's short time on earth, he blessed the lives of many people, and the lives of those he touched will be forever hollow.

Charlie was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sharon Strebeck Wilson; great grandfathers, Charles Allen Patman and C.B. Strebeck, and the rest of his great grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Living Rock Church, 2801 Antler Rd, Gillette, WY.
