Obituary: Raymond Atchley Jr.

Raymond Eugene "Gene" Atchley Jr (fondly known as Tubby and Grandpa), age 68, of Clovis, NM passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 11:00 am at Parkland Baptist Church, 921 Parkland Dr., Clovis, NM with Pastor Wayne Boydstun officiating.

Raymond was born on December 21, 1954, to Raymond Eugene Atchley Sr and Billie Ruth Mills in Clovis, NM. On December 20, 1986, Raymond married Esther Flowers in Clovis, NM. Raymond enjoyed teaching, guns, shooting, drawing, reading, building models, history and loved his animals.

Survivors include his wife; Esther F. Atchley of the home, children; David Rodgers of Tucumcari, NM, Michael (Jessica) Atchley of Alabama, and Jennifer Atchley of Clovis, NM, brother; Wayne (Kim) Atchley of Carlsbad, NM, brothers-in-law; George (Mei) Flowers of Carrollton, TX, William (Kelly) Flowers of Clovis, NM, and Perry Ferguson of Clovis, NM, sister; Anissa McCormick of Clovis, NM; cousins; Dan (Jan) Malin of Kansas, KS, Leota Jentzen (Randall) of Albuquerque, NM, Rindie Qualls of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathy Malon of GA, Sandra Klever of Las Vegas, NV and Charles Malin of CO, grandchildren; Kyleigh Rodgers, Jaden Rodgers, Neriah Rodgers, N.J. Gallegos, Aurora Gallegos and Josh Boney, numerous nephews and nieces; Sean, April, Lucas, Areana (Zain), Andrea, Nicole, Dakota, Jeron, Matthew (Wendy), Cecil, Keith, Heather, and Georgia.

Raymond was also "Pops" to Patrick (Hope) Gallegos, Mark Boney, Desiree Garrison and Chrissy

(Christine) Jacklin.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Raymond and Billie, grandparents; Owen and Zula Mae Atchley, father, and mother-in-law; William and Fujie "Judy" Flowers, sister-in-law; Louisa Moore Ferguson, uncles; Lowell Atchley and Leo Brown, aunts; Margaret Brown and Nell Johnson, and nephew; Patrick Atchley.
