Kinlund garners national award

A Clovis financial advisor has picked up a top national award from Forbes magazine.

Alan Kinlund advisor with Edward Jones was acknowledged as the “Number 1” financial advisor in New Mexico for Forbes “Next Generation” award, officially called “Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors Best-in-State.”

“Forbes does their ‘best of’ many different things. Forbes partnered with Shook Research to find the next generation of financial advisors in each state,” Kinlund said.

He said he was evaluated on investment philosophy; his onboarding process for clients, for example how he evaluates those “we should help” and how philanthropic he is.

Kinlund is President of the Clovis Rotary Club, recently appointed to the Plains Regional Medical Center hospital board, director of the group ‘New Mexico Amigos,’ “goodwill ambassadors of the state of New Mexico.

Kinlund, originally from Raton, is married to Sarah and they are the parents of three boys.

“I got my education in Portales at Eastern New Mexico University. After graduation Edward Jones offered me a job. But I moved to California for another job.

About 9 months later I realized I did not want to live in San Francisco,” Kinlund said.

According to Kinlund he beat out advisors from the Albuquerque office of a nationally known firm.

“I was number one and five of the advisors from that Albuquerque office were numbers two through seven in the top ten on the Forbes New Mexico list,” Kinlund said.
