Clovis Popeye's to be open in days

The opening of a new Clovis location for a national franchise fast food restaurant is just days away, according to the restaurant’s general manager.

LaToya Thomas, General Manager of the new Popeye’s restaurant at 3205 N. Prince Street, said Monday the restaurant will open after Clovis officials complete required inspections, as soon as Saturday.

“It depends on the city inspections,” Thomas said.

Thomas said the Clovis Popeye’s is a franchise operated by the same people who operate the Burger King restaurants in Clovis and Portales.

Thomas said training for employees is in full-swing.

“We have 40 people in training now,” Thomas said.

Popeye’s will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

“We’ll have the Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich, it’s probably the most popular chicken sandwich in America. We’ll have the Ghost Pepper Wings and the new Sweet and Spicy Wings. We’ll have Red Beans and Rice, Strawberry Biscuits, our blackened chicken sandwich that has no breading, it’s seasoned and fried,” Thomas said.
