Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
What’s going to be opening at the former Hamilton Truck Center on North Prince? What is the new business on the north side of the Clovis Walmart? What’s going on at the old apartments on the south side of 21st Street just east of Thornton Street?
Pete Wilt is the man who knows what is going on in terms of new construction in Clovis; he is the city’s Building Safety Department director.
“There’s nothing happening at 2521 North Prince, we shut them down the other day because they had no permits,” Wilt said.
Wilt said contractors who work on projects such as the proposed restaurant at the former truck center must have the proper permits to do the work they need to do.
“The new building north of the Clovis Walmart is going to be a plasma center. I understand people will be able to sell their blood there,” Wilt said.
Wilt did not have the name of the company that will be occupying the building, but said he understands the building will be open in August.
Long an eyesore in Clovis due to closure, broken windows and building damage from vandalism, now there is much activity at the building known as the Mirador apartments on the south side of 21st Street in the 700 block just east of Thornton Street.
“The apartments are going through rehab by a California company that has an Albuquerque office. They will be rented out again when the project is complete,” Wilt said.
