Baby Sena update: halfway home

Quite a few updates to give on Baby Sena since the last time I wrote.

Where to start? Well, I crossed a pretty big milestone with hitting the 20-week mark of my pregnancy. Halfway there!

I got to see the baby for the first time since April, and to say a lot has changed is an understatement. The last time I got an ultrasound, Baby Sena looked like a gummy bear. Now, the baby is very active, has all 10 toes and 10 fingers, and has started to kick frequently. I love that I’ve gotten to feel the flutters finally and that baby is developing well.

I also wasn’t expecting to see any 3D images at my last appointment, but I got to see the face, the spine, even the kidneys! Technology blows my mind every day. The fact that we were able to see all that we did, including the four chambers of the heart, is still crazy to me.

One major thing I’m leaving out is the fact that at the 20-week appointment you get to learn the gender of the baby if you choose. My husband Sterling and I of course are too impatient and couldn’t wait any longer. So, we told the lady that did our ultrasound that we wanted to know, but we wanted to get it in an envelope so we could all be surprised with our family this last weekend.

It was a fun day, having everyone all together to celebrate this new life and find out what Baby Sena is. Everyone kept asking me what I thought it would be, but I truly didn’t have a feeling either way.

Early on in my pregnancy, I had two dreams. One of them, I was having a boy, and the other, I was having a girl. So there was no gut feeling for me. I was just excited no matter what.

Well, the time came on Saturday and we decided to pop a balloon to find out. Our family counted us down and Sterling popped the balloon. Even though I didn’t have a feeling either way, I was shocked to see PINK confetti flying out of the balloon!

Yes, Baby Sena is a girl and we couldn’t be more excited.

The thought of having a daughter and her being the big sister of our bunch brings me so much joy. I know she’ll be the best at whatever she puts her mind to.

As far as names go … well, we’re still working on that!
