No, it’s the second most dangerous.

According to Clovis Police Department Captain Roman Romero

from June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023,

The intersection of North Prince and Texas streets, directly in front of Walmart, was the site of the most traffic accidents – 45 -- in Clovis from June 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023.

That’s according to statistics compiled by Clovis Police Capt. Roman Romero.

Clovis’ second-most dangerous intersection in the time frame was at 21st and North Prince with 24 traffic calls in that time period. The Llano Estacado and North Prince intersection received 23 calls and First and Prince streets had 13 incidents, Romero said.

Romero wrote in an email the intersection of Manana Boulevard and North Prince Street is also a dangerous intersection with 15 traffic incidents reported from June 1, 2021, to May 31, 2023.

In Portales, “Our most dangerous intersection … is Highway 70 and North Kilgore Street,” said Capt. Chris Valdez of the Portales Police Department.

Valdez said the intersection recorded 32 crashes with 13 injuries from Jan. 1, 2021, to June 8, 2023.

The city reported 542 crashes during those 30 months, Valdez said.

“The second dangerous intersection is North Chicago and East First Street,” Valdez said. “In that time frame we had 23 crashes in that intersection with one reported injury.”

West Second Street and South Avenue C was the third worst intersection. “In that time frame we had 15 crashes in that intersection with four reported injuries,” Valdez said.

Valdez said other dangerous intersections in the city include:

• Chicago and Lime with 13 crashes and two reported injuries;

• First and Main with 12 crashes and four reported injuries;

• West Second and South Avenue I with 12 crashes and one injury;

• University and Highway 70 with 10 crashes and three injuries.
